The Rivier University baseball team enjoyed a sweep in its final doubleheader of the season on Sunday, 8-5 and 16-5 with a combined 31 hits in the affair at Henniker.

In the first game, the Raiders (6-10 GNAC, 10-22 overall) were outhit 12-8 but were paced by frank Gulezian and Sebastien Reis, each going 2 for 4 but Reis had a homer and three RBIs. Colton Colleran also had two hits while starter Anthony Morro got the win on the mound, allowing three runs (two earned) on nine hits over six innings, walking four but striking out six.

In the nightcap, the Raider bats really went to work as they pounded out 23 hits, led by Kyle Hsu (5 for 6, RBI, three runs scored), Luis Colon (4 for 5, four RBIs, two runs) and Reis (3 for 5, four RBIs). Reis had seven RBIs on the day. Jacob Boudreau (three hits), Dylan Alberti (two hits, two RBIs) and Frank Gulezian (two hits, two runs) were among the other contributors.

It all made it easy for Raider hurler Sean Kuhlhoff, who picked up his first win of the season, allowing three runs over six innings on seven hits, walking one but fanning six.

Rivier is at St. Joseph’s of Maine at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

SOFTBALL

RAIDERS SWEPT BY ST. JOSEPH’S (Me.)

On Senior Day, the Raiders fell 8-4 and 9-1, but will host a GNAC Play-in Game on Tuesday vs. New England College at 7 p.m.

In the opener, the Raiders were outhit 14-10, as Christina Panaglotopoulos had two hits and an RBI, while Kylee Caetano had two hits. Kyleigh Burtsell had a pinch-hit homer, while Courtney Marioles took the loss in circle.

In the nightcap, the Raiders (15-17, 8-8 GNAC) were outhit 14-6, with Olivia Couto driving in the team’s only run. Kayla Miles went 3 for 3.

Hailey Berube took the loss in the circle, giving up nine runs (six earned) on 13 hits.
