Rivier men’s volleyball makes quick work of Endicott, 3-0

NASHUA – The Rivier University men’s volleyball team hit .468 and recorded 9.0 blocks in a straight sweep of Endicott in non-conference play on Wednesday night at the Muldoon Center by set scores of 25-14, 25-16, 25-23.

The Raiders evened out the season series against the Gulls with the win, avenging a five-set loss in Beverly in the third match of the season to improve to 13-10. Endicott fell to 11-9 with the loss.

Rivier hit .619 in the opening set to get out to a 1-0 lead as Sokunbuth Ly recorded seven kills at a .667 clip. Neil Rea notched 14 assists on 15 Raider kills.

Five combined team blocks for Rivier in the second set limited the visitors to a -.056 percentage as the home side took a 2-0 lead.

Endicott put up a fight in the third, but the Raiders would prevail late on an Ethan Soltis kill to secure the sweep.

Rea finished with 31 assists, four aces, four digs, and five block assists. Ryan Peace recorded five block assists while notching six kills on 11 errorless swings to hit .545 on the night. Ly led the team with a .750 clip as he recorded a match-high thirteen kills. Soltis registered eight kills at a .400 percentage while Isaac Borges had two solo blocks and two block assists in the triumph.

The Raiders had nine blocks to Endicott’s two, eight aces to the Gulls’ six, and limited the guests to a .121 hitting percentage.

Rivier will head to Pieri Gymnasium on Saturday, March 30 for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tri-match against Lasell and Dean with match times set for 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., respectively.

LEZON HONORED

After posting 2.15 kills per set and 1.15 blocks per set in a 3-1 (2-1 GNAC) week, Chris Lezon of Rivier men’s volleyball was named to the FrogJump Team of the Week on Tuesday.

The Lincoln, R.I. native put together a 13-kill, four-block performance in a 3-1 victory over Lasell on Saturday afternoon.

BASEBALL POSTPONED

The Raiders scheduled game vs. Dean Collage in Franklin, Mass. was postponed on Wednesday. No rescheduling info was available as of yet.
