UNH Roundup: Women’s hockey advances to semifinals
DURHAM – Freshman goaltender Sedona Blair (Eden Prairie, Minn.) stopped all 15 shots and broke the program single-season saves record to backstop the University of New Hampshire women’s hockey team to a 3-0 victory against the University of Vermont in Saturday night’s Hockey East quarterfinal at the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex.
UNH will play Wednesday at No. 2-seeded Northeastern University in the semis.
Blair, a Hockey East Third Team All-Star and All-Rookie Team selection, recorded her fifth shutout of the season and is the UNH single-season record holder with 889 saves.
Senior Chavonne Truter and grad students Tamara Thiérus and Annie Berry scored one goal apiece. Rae Breton , Shea Verrier and Charli Kettyle were each credited with an assist.
Jessie McPherson had 28 saves and two goals against for UVM. Berry’s tally was an empty netter at 17:13 of the third period.
UNH, the tourney No. 3 seed with a 14-11-2 league record, improves to 18-15-2 overall and advances to a March 6 semifinal. Vermont ends the season at 13-17-5.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
BINGHAMTON 87, UNH 74
Junior guard Ahmad Robinson scored 28 points for the Wildcats in the loss at Bai Lee Court in Vestal, N.Y.
He also collected six rebounds, both team highs. Senior forward Clarence Daniels added 21 points.
The Wildcats’ record falls to 15-13 (7-8 AE) and Binghamton’s improves to 14-14 (6-9 AE).

BINGHAMTON 65, UNH 56
The Wildcats’ season ends at 9-20, 3-13 in Hockey East. The ‘Cats got 13 points each from Maggie Cavanaugh, Belen Morales Lopez, and Clara Gomez.
