More awards for Rivier goalie Hinkley, hoop’s Grumblatt

WORCESTER, Mass. — Junior goaltender Rachel Hinkley of the Rivier women’s ice hockey team picked up back-to-back Eastern Collegiate Hockey Alliance (ECHA) Goaltender of the Week honors. This is her third ECHA GOW of the season.

On Feb. 9 Hinkley helped the Raiders to a 2-1 OT victory on the road at Buffone Ice Arena against Anna Maria. She made 38 saves, earning a .974 save percentage.

On the season, Hinkley holds a .972 save percentage, with a .700 win percentage.

The Raiders will play their final regular season contests this weekend, Feb. 17 and 18, with a home-and-home series versus MCLA.

MORE HONORS FOR GRUMBLATT

Following a historic week, Lyric Grumblatt of the Rivier women’s basketball team was named the New England Women’s Basketball Association (NEWBA) Player of the Week, the association announced on Tuesday.

Grumblatt earns this honor after being tabbed the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week on Monday, which was the fourth time this season.

In Monday’s non-conference loss to Trinity (Conn.), Grumblatt matched her career-high points with 44. The senior guard shot 62.5% from the field and 6-of-10 from deep. She also finished one rebound shy of a double-double in the setback.

Last Wednesday night, Grumblatt continued to make history as her 25-point performance in a 70-59 conference road victory over Colby-Sawyer put her second in the program’s all-time scoring list with 1,744 points. Grumblatt hauled in 11 rebounds to secure a double-double.

Helping the Raiders down Dean 99-51 in Saturday’s road matchup were Grumblatt’s six three-pointers, putting her at 241 in her career, good for first in program history.

Grumblatt leads the GNAC in points per game (25.5), points scored (611), sand steals per game (3.1). She is also third in the conference for three-point percentage (39.2%).

Grumblatt and the Raiders will return to home court in a GNAC clash again Mitchell at Muldoon Center for Senior Night tonight at 7 p.m.
