Red Sox sign righty reliever Criswell to one-year deal

BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Red Sox signed right-hander Cooper Criswell to a one-year deal, bringing in the former Rays long reliever as a potential arm for the bullpen or rotation.
Criswell, 27, made 10 relief appearances for the Rays last season, including four outings of at least four innings. He was 1-1 with a 5.73 ERA.
Criswell also made one major league appearance in each of the two previous seasons.
Each of his 10 appearances with the Rays lasted at least 2.0 innings, including four outings of at least 4.0 innings.
The right-hander also posted a 3.93 ERA (37 ER/84.2 IP) in 23 games (17 starts) with Triple-A Durham in 2023.
Originally selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the 13th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, the Georgia native owns a 5.97 ERA (25 ER/37.2 IP) in 12 career Major League games (two starts) with the Angels (2021) and Rays (2022-23).
