UNH completes season sweep of Northeastern, 4-0

DURHAM – Junior goaltender Jakob Hellsten recorded his first collegiate shutout with 21 saves as the No. 13 University of New Hampshire men’s hockey team defeated Northeastern, 4-0, on Saturday night in front of a crowd of 6,060 at the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex.

Freshman forward Ryan Conmy recorded a total of two points with one goal and one assist, while junior defenseman Colton Huard (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) tallied two assists for two points.

Freshman forward Jason Siedem recorded his first collegiate goal,

while senior forward Nick Cafarelli (Middleton, Mass.) and sophomore forward Morgan Winters (Osprey, Fla.) each found the back of the net.

The Wildcats improve to 6-2-1 (4-1-1 Hockey East), while the Huskies are now 2-7-0 (0-7-0 Hockey East).

UNH won the regular season series over the Huskies, 3-0-0. The last time UNH swept a three-game regular season Hockey East series was when they went 3-0-0 against UMass Lowell in 2012-13.

UNH’s 6-2-1 record is its best start to a season in six years when the Wildcats also went 6-2-1.

The 4-1-1 Hockey East record is their best start in seven years when they were also 4-1-1 in 2016-17.

The Wildcats return to action when they travel to Rochester, N.Y., to play RIT on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 24-25 at Gene Polisseni Center with both games on NESN. The contest on Friday is at 7 p.m., while the matchup on Saturday is at 5 p.m.
