DUDLEY, Mass. – Junior goalkeeper Maya Puma was up to the task on all 20 shots fired on goal by the Bison as the Rivier women’s soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw on Thursday evening at the Nichols Soccer Field.

The Raiders now sit at 6-2-2 while Nichols moved to 2-5-1 on the season.

In a back-and-forth affair, Nichols believed to have the go-ahead goal with 23:20 remaining, however the Bison were called offsides, negating the goal. Less than 10 minutes later, Rivier’s Amber Casmer and Elisabeth Jacob each fired shots on target, but Bison keeper Saige Fraiser kept the Raiders off the board on both tries. Nichols would take five shots in the final five minutes, all of which missed the mark, keeping the game scoreless at the final whistle.

Nichols outshot Rivier, 36-12, with the Raiders placing nine on goal. The Bison collected three corner kicks over 90 minutes of play.

The Raiders will return to Merrill Field for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) clash against Saint Joseph’s (Me.) on Saturday with a 1 p.m. scheduled start as the team will honor its Team Impact teammate Serafina Nicastro as part of Rivier’s Alumni Reunion Weekend tripleheader.
