Worcester State gets fast start in beating Rivier women, 4-1

WORCESTER, Mass. — The Rivier University women’s hockey team fell Friday night 4-1 to Worcester State at the Fidelity Bank Arena.
The Lancers (16-6-1) went up 2-0 throughout the first period. Katie Puumala and Cassidhe Wozniak each scored.
Worcester would add one more in the second period, 9:49 in, on an Emily Pavoni score. The Raiders (6-14-2) would find their way onto the scoreboard on a Power Play opportunity when Brianna Parent beat the Lancer tender.
Worcester added one more in the third period on a Caroline Gates Goal.
Worcester outshot Rivier 45-13.
The two teams will play again tonight at Skate 3 in Tyngsborough, Mass.
