Rivier women’s hockey team blanked by SUNY Potsdam

POTSDAM, N.Y. — The Rivier University women’s ice hockey team was blanked by SUNY Potsdam Friday night, 5-0, to fall to 2-5-2 on the season.

In the shutout, the Bears scored two goals in the first and second periods while adding on another in the third.

Alessia Marandola netted her first goal of two in the first and found her second in the third period. Alex Quinn, Kaylee Merrill, and Keely Towne all found the back of the net for Potsdam to give them the 5-0 victory.

Riv goalie Rachel Hinkley is now 2-2-2 on the seaso despite racking up 35 saves in the effort. Hannah Barrett would get the win after seeing only nine shots and saving all of them.

Rivier women’s hockey will be back Saturday for a second game with the Bears of SUNY Potsdam at 1 p.m.
