South alum Murray leads Keene State past Rivier, 71-61
KEENE — Nashua South alum Aryanna Murray had a super game on Tuesday night — against a Nashua school.
Murray had a game-high 18 points as Keene State held off Rivier University, 71-61, in non-conference action.
Both teams struggled in the first half to get anything going. They both shot under 30% from the field as they put together a halftime score of 22-11 in Keene’s favor.
The second half saw a drastic improvement in the scoring output for each team. The Raiders took the third quarter 20-19, but with the deficit from the first half didn’t gain any ground. The two teams stayed even through the fourth quarter, with them both putting up 30 points each.
Rivier had all five starters in double digits tonight. Leading the way was Nashua’s Hannah Muchemore who had 14 points. Anna Stenger of Weare was just behind her with 13 points and one rebound shy of completing the double-double with nine.
Alexa Dufries contributed six rebounds in the effort, along with 12 points. Manchester’s Jessica Carrier and Lyric Grumblatt (Manchester, NH) rounded out the starters with 11 points each.
Also for KSU (2-3), Rylee Burgess finished with a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds. Kenzie Durnford also added a substantial effort in tonight’s contest, adding 16 points and nine boards.
