UNH men’s soccer will host Seton Hall in NCAA first round

DURHAM – The University of New Hampshire men’s soccer team (14-4-0, 6-1-0 America East) will play Seton Hall (7-3-7, 4-1-5 Big East) in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday at Wildcat Stadium at 6 p.m. as announced today on the NCAA Selection Show.

The winner of the game will travel to take on No. 10 seed Florida International on Sunday, Nov. 20.

The Wildcats earned an automatic bid to the 48-team tournament by winning their fourth America East Championship with a 2-0 win over UAlbany on Nov. 13 at Wildcat Stadium. The field is made up of champions from 23 conferences, who qualified automatically, in addition to 25 teams that were selected at-large. The top 16 teams received a bye to the second round.

This is UNH’s seventh NCAA Tournament appearance and sixth straight as the Wildcats earned at-large bids to the 1994, 2017, 2021 tournaments, and automatic bids to the tournament in 2018, 2019 and 2020. UNH is 3-6-1 all-time in the NCAA Tournament making it to the Round of 16 in 2017 and 2021.

Seton Hall received an at-large bid and will be making its 13th NCAA Tournament appearance. The Pirates went 7-3-7 overall this season and 4-1-5 in the Big East.

UNH went 14-4-0 (.778) overall which is the 12th best winning percentage in the nation. The Wildcats went 6-1-0 in America East earning the regular season championship for the fourth straight season and their fifth regular season championship in program history.

The Wildcats have 11 shutouts and have outscored the opposition this season, 34-9. UNH is third in the nation with a 0.500 team goals against average.

The Wildcats are 9-1-0 at home this season as they have scored 18 goals and have only allowed two. UNH is 52-3-7 all-time at Wildcat Stadium, outscoring the opposition, 127-21.
