By UNH Athletic Communications - | Nov 11, 2022

DURHAM – Junior forward Eli Goldman (Minneapolis, Minn.) and junior back Moise Bombito (Montreal, Quebec) each scored a goal as the No. 22 nationally ranked and No. 1 seed University of New Hampshire men’s soccer team defeated No. 5 seed Binghamton, 3-0, on Thursday evening at Wildcat Stadium in the semifinals of the America East Tournament.

The Wildcats improve to 13-4-0, while the Bearcats conclude the season 6-9-4.

The Wildcats will play No. 3 seed UAlbany in the America East championship game on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium on ESPN+. UAlbany defeated No. 2 seed Vermont 1-0 in the semifinals.

The Wildcats will be looking to win their fourth America East championship as UNH captured the title in the 2018, 2019 and 2020 seasons. This will be UNH’s fifth straight appearance in the championship game.

The Wildcats struck early in the second minute (1:51) when graduate student midfielder Johann von Knebel (Hamburg, Germany) crossed the ball from the left side of the goal to Goldman who headed it into the lower left corner of the net. Graduate student Chris Pinkham (Concord, N.H.) also posted an assist on the goal.

UNH extended its lead in the 59th minute (58:38), when Bombito headed the ball into the back of the net from a corner kick by graduate student midfielder Jamie Davis (Cheshire, England).

In the 72nd minute (71:26), Pinkham attacked the goal with speed and crossed the ball to graduate student forward Paul Mayer (Strasbourg, France, pictured above, No. 18) who fired it into the goal to increase the lead to 3-0. von Knebel tallied an assist on the goal. It was Mayer’s fifth of the season.
