BOSTON — Rivier women’s basketball opened their season this evening by taking down Fisher College in non-conference action.
That was the upside for the Raider hoop teams; the downside is the men lost a
close one to Rhode Island College in their season opener. Here’s a look:
RIIER WOMEN 85, FISHER 52
After a 29-22 first half, the Raiders extended their lead drastically in the third quarter after dropping an impressive 38 points. Rivier had five score double digits this evening, led by Manchester’s Lyric Grumblatt and Nashua’s Hannah Muchemore. Grumblatt had a game-high 19 points, followed by Muchemore with 18, along with five assists and five steals. Rachel Quinn added 15 points as well for the Raiders.
The Falcons struggled to possess the ball as they accumulated 36 turnovers to the Raiders 14.
They did, however, have a better shooting percentage from the floor, shooting 42% compared to Rivier’s 41%. Ladaeja Robinson and Madison Kelley match each other for the team-high with 15 points each. Kelley did finish with a double-double, pulling down 16 boards.
The Raiders will be back in action Thursday at the Muldoon Center for their home opener against Nichols College at 7 p.m.
