Racevicius records another milestone in Riv volleyball win

GORHAM, Me.– The Rivier University women’s volleyball team picked up another win, defeating non-conference opponent Southern Maine 3-0 on Thursday night while hitter Sydney Racevicius notched another career milestone.

The Raiders (23-4) were in another tight battle (25-20, 25-19, 25-23) with the Huskies, butv had another solid offensive performance while out, hitting Southern Maine 39 to 27. They continue to light it up on the serve causing another 13 reception errors.

Racevicius (Woodbury, CT) topped the match again for the Raiders with 14 kills and she also met another career milestone by racking up her 1,000th dig, making her the second player in Rivier history to have 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs.

Sofia Pawlusik also had a match-high with 15 digs. Avery Pollard (Ballston Lake, NY) helped the offense perform with her setting, as she dished out 34 assists.

The Huskies (5-19) couldn’t get on a roll offensively as they fell short to Riv. Brianna Delloiacono led her team with eight kills. Setting her was Sophie Lindsay, who racked up 16 assists along with 10 digs.

Rivier will be back this weekend on Saturday against Dean and Lasell University at 1 and 3 p.m.
