By Rivier Sports Information - | Sep 21, 2022

It was a tough Tuesday on the road for a pair of Rivier University women’s fall sports teams, namely volleyball and field hockey.

Here’s a look:

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

EMERSON 3, RIVIER 0

The Rivier women’s volleyball team ended their seven-game winning streak this evening after suffering a loss to non-conference opponent Emerson College in straight sets, 21-25, 8-25, 14-25.

The 7-2 Raiders offense struggled to get anything going after the first set. Although falling in set one, Riv outpaced the Lions in kills 15-12. After that, the Raiders could only put together four kills in the second and third sets. Sydney Racevicius (Woodbury, CT) led the offense with seven kills. Avery Pollard (Ballston Lake, NY) had 18 assists, with Sofia Pawlusik (Burnt Hills, NY) finishing with a team-high 16 digs.

Emerson (8-1) also didn’t produce high offensive numbers but won each set by committing fewer errors. The Lions only had 18 errors to Rivier’s 40. Parker Cummings led the Lion attack with eight kills.

Rivier will be back in action Thursday when it travels to Southern Maine for another non-conference matchup at 7 p.m.
