LYNDONVILLE, VT. — They were on fire in the cold rain.
The Rivier University men’s soccer traveled to play the University of Northern Vermont-Lyndon on Monday and came away with a 4-0 season-opening non-confernce win.
The first half consisted of three Raiders goals, all of which came within ten minutes. The first came just past the 25-minute mark off the foot of Nashua’s Ryan Hadouche, while the second goal came at the 31-minute mark on a top-shelf finish from outside the box by Sidney Hartmann (Clermont, Fla.). The half would end with one more goal at 33:47 in from sophomore Hayden Bilodeau (Windham, Me.), who received a cross piece from Jason Harlow (Naples, Fla.).
The second half would only see one more score from either team. Rivier would net their fourth goal of the game, coming on a Bilodeau cross to Hartmann for his second goal of the contest.
Rivier outshot its host 31-8 and had 14 corner kicks to NV-L’s 2.
The Raiders will be back in action with their home opener at Merrill Field next Saturday at 1 p.m. against Johnson & Wales to kick off conference action.
