Fisher Cats as good as Gold in 13-10 win over Yard Goats

By Staff Reports - | Aug 18, 2022

HARTFORD, Conn. — The New Hampshire Fisher Cats had the bats going on Wednesday night, including Ryan Gold’s, as they outslugged the Hartford Yard Goats, 13-10, before 5,542 at Dunkin Donuts Park.

All Gold did was go 4 for 5 with a single, triple, two homers and six RBIs.

Sebastian Espino’s two-run triple highlighted a four-run top of the fifth. Addison Barger, who had a ground rule double, went 3 for 5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Gold has hit four homers vs. Hartford this season.

Andrew Moore was the beneficiary of a lot of those 14 Fisher Cat hits, as he picked up the win on the mound with holding the Yard Goats to two runs on six hits over his 4.1 innings of relief. Parker Caracci got his sixth save with two-thirds of a scoreless inning.

SCOTT’S TOTS: Reliever Braden Scott has been on a ridiculous tear over the last two weeks. In his last three outings (8.1 innings), Scott has recorded his three highest strikeouts totals in his career. He Ked six versus Richmond on August 4, and then set a new career high with seven strikeouts on August 7. In 3.0 innings against Erie on August 13, he struck out another seven. All in all, Scott has 20 strikeouts in his last 8.1 innings, equivalent to a 21.6 K/9. Scott was part of Dunedin’s record 24 strikeouts against Tampa on May 14, as well as New Hampshire’s team record 19 strikeouts against Richmond on August 4.

AGAINST THE YARD GOATS: New Hampshire has had Hartford’s number this year, going 9-5 after last night’s win against the Yard Goats. The Fisher Cats won their first series of the year over Hartford, 4-2, back on April 12-17. The two teams split their second series at Delta Dental Stadium in July. New Hampshire has hit .266 with 27 homers versus Hartford, while the Yard Goats are hitting .207 with 14 homers against NH. Ryan Gold is now 11-for-21 with four homers against the Goats, and Zac Cook has six of his 13 homers against Hartford, Jimmy Burnette (4.1 IP), Jake Elliott (4.2 IP) and Braden Scott (4.0 IP) have yet to give up an earned run to the Yard Goats.
