NASHUA — The Nashua Silver Knights are hoping home is where the wins are, beginning with tonight’s Fireworks Night game against defending FCBL champion Vermont at Holman Stadium.

It’s the first of five straight games at Holman for the local FCBL entry through next Wednesday, with an off-day on Monday. Nashua, 9-14 overall, is 5-6 at Holman this season.

It won’t be easy tonight, beginning at 6. Dating back to last year, the Knights have dropped a whopping 13 straight to the Lake Monsters, who are owned by former Nashua Pride and Brockton Rox owner Chris English. Nashua’s last win over Vermont came on June 18, 2021. Vermont was atop the FCBL again at 20-5 after last night’s Home Run Derby win at Brockton after the Rox rallied from 4-0 to tie the game at 4-4 and eventually send it to the derby.

For Nashua on Thursday, the road was where the rain was, as their game vs. Pittsfield at Wahconah Park was postponed due to rain. No makeup date has been announced as of yet, but the next time the Silver Knights are scheduled to be headed out to the Berkshires is on Saturday, July 9 for a 6 p.m. game at Wahconah.

Nashua’s Brock Pare (0-2, 4.84) was scheduled to pitch at Pittsfield last night, so it’s not known whether he’ll get the start tonight or if the team will skip him in favor of the original scheduled Friday starter, Jonah Wachter (1-0, 2.00).

Nashua is home Saturday vs. Westfield and Sunday at 3 p.m. vs. Norwich, the two teams that were just at Holman this past Tuesday and Wednesday. Norwich snapped the Knights’ five game winning streak on Wednesday, 3-1. The Worcester Bravehearts and Westfield Star Fires are set to visit Holman Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively to wrap up the five-game homestand.
