UNH women’s lacrosse falls to fifth-ranked Stony Brook

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Sophomore Kelsey MacCallum (Franklin, Mass.) scored two goals as the University of New Hampshire women’s lacrosse team was defeated 20-6 by fifth-ranked Stony Brook University on Saturday afternoon at LaValle Stadium.

Junior Liv Dunn (Newbury, Mass.) was the other Wildcat to record multiple points with a goal and an assist. Senior Emily Curtis (Walpole, Mass.), sophomore Mackenzie MacEachern (Bedford, N.H.) and senior captain Delaney Pratt (Lafayette, Colo.) scored UNH’s other goals.

Senior Issy Torres (Elmhurst, Ill.) played the first half and made three saves in 30 minutes; she allowed 11 goals and was charged with the loss. Freshman Maria Hagan (Downers Grove, Ill.) stopped 4 of 13 shots on goal in the second half.

Stony Brook was led offensively by Kailyn Hart (five goals, one assist) and Morgan Mitchell (four goals, two assists). Kameron Halsall made two saves and allowed two goals in 30 minutes to earn the win; Charlie Campbell also had a .500 save percentage with four saves and four goals against.

UNH, which outscored the Seawolves 4-2 in the fourth quarter, is now 6-6 overall and 1-2 in America East. SBU improved to 9-2, 2-0.

New Hampshire returns to action next Saturday, April 16 for Senior Day against the University of Vermont. Game time is 1 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
