By Travis Giard - Rivier Sports Information | Mar 25, 2022

NASHUA –The Rivier men’s volleyball team had its win streak end at 11 games Thursday night at the Muldoon Center after being defeated by No. 1 ranked Springfield College 3-0 in non-conference action.

The Raiders (12-7) gave the Pride (18-1) troubles early on in the first set after gaining the lead. Springfield would, however, work its way back in the set and take the lead back en route to a 25-22, 25-12, 25-19 sweep. The Pride had a long run of great serves by Chris Parker and Jarrett Anderson, who combined for 10 aces.

The second and third sets saw the Raiders offense go cold in part to the blocking effort of Springfield. Riv was only able to finish on six attacks in the second set compared to the Prides 13.

Rivier matched their six kills from the second but picked up the defense at the net, keeping Springfield to only nine kills in the set.

Parker finished with 10 kills and 0 errors for an impressive .909 hitting percentage.

David Smith ended the match with eight kills and three digs.

Springfield finished with 17 service aces to Rivier’s one.

The Raiders will be back in action this Sunday when they travel to Lasell University to play the Lasers and Dean College. The first match against Dean is set for 1 p.m., with the final match at 3 p.m.
