Rivier Roundup: Lachance leads first women’s lax win

NASHUA — Sarah Lachance had a seven point day, with five goals and two assists, as the Rivier University women’s lacrosse team got its first win of the year, 12-10 over Thomas College of Maine.

Rivier’s Caitlin Newell had three goals while Rachel Hinkley had two goals and an assist. Tara Saliany and Abby Nadeau also scored a goal apiece for the Raiders.

Rivier jumped out to a 3-0 lead, expanded it to 8-4 by the second quarter. Thomas College closed to 10-9 and 11-10 in the fourth quarter but each time Newell scored to provide Riv with important two-goal leads.

Lindsey Kruger had 11 saves in goal for Rivier (1-1), who are at Elms on Friday.
