Rivier Roundup: Tough loss for men’s hoop, big volleyball win
NASHUA — The Rivier men’s basketball team fell to Norwich University Thursday in a conference game at the Muldoon Center.
The first half started with the Cadets (14-10, 9-7 GNAC), taking the lead and holding it for the majority of the half. But the Raiders (9-14, 5-11 GNAC) clawed back into the game and were able to overtake the visiting team before the break on an 18 point first half by Miles Gillette. Gillette finished with 26 points and 17 rebounds.
The second half quickly saw the Raiders three-point lead disappear, with Samuel-Noah Osarenkhoe taking over the game en route to a game-high 30 points.
After scoring 14 in the first half, he would go off for another 16 in the second. He would make four three-point shots alone in the half, going 6-of-9 shooting. Solid defense from the Cadets Kohlby Murray would add three steals and ten more points for the team.
Rivier will end the regular season Saturday against GNAC opponent Johnson & Wales at 3 p.m. at the Muldoon.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
RIVIER 3, ENDICOTT 2
The Raiders improved to 3-6 after a tough five-set match in Beverly, Mass. that went 25-16, 18-25, 30-28, 21-25, 15-13.
The Raiders took set one with ease after a solid offensive performance. Rivier tallied 15 kills to the Gulls seven to take it 25-16. However, Endicott would bounce back in set two, almost flipping the score with them hitting a .435 hitting percentage compared to a Raiders .111.

Again, Endicott did not go away easily, forcing a fifth set after both teams struggled to find a rhythm on offense. Both teams had their highest number of errors, with both teams totaling seven.
The fifth set was again close, with Endicott putting together more kills, but their four errors compared to the Raiders two made the difference in the end.
Raider David Smith had a team high 16 kills along with a match high 11 digs.
Pedro Campos dished out a match high 48 assists along with six digs.
Rivier visits Emerson in Boston today at 5 p.m.
