Saints use second, third quarter runs to throttle Raiders

BOSTON, Mass. — The Rivier women’s basketball team was taken down Thursday night by GNAC opponent Emmanuel College, 83-62, after a Saints 40-19 run spanning the second and third quarters.

The Saints dominated this evening, besting the Raiders in the first three quarters and securing their largest lead of 26 points. It wasn’t just one player for Emmanuel that contributed a large number of points. It was a team effort with 13 athletes contributing. The highest scorer for the Saints was Jamad Fin with 12 points.

The Raiders did cut into the large deficit in the fourth by winning the quarter 21-18. Alexa Dufries (Leicester, MA) was the top scoring option for Rivier as she finished the game with 21 points and four rebounds. Lyric Grumblatt finished with another double-double, 17 points and 13 rebounds.

The Raiders will be back on the court Saturday at 2 p.m. when they travel to Lasell University for more GNAC action.
