Raider women skaters can’t quite close the gap in 3-1 loss

By Rivier Sports Information - | Jan 15, 2022

CANTON, Mass. — The Rivier women’s hockey team fell on the short end of a closely contested 3-1 contest with Curry College.

After another scoreless first period, the Colonels got on the board 10 minutes into the second. Grayson Goolgasian put Curry on top.

The game would remain 1-0 in Curry’s favor until the ten minute mark again in the third when they would tack on one more. Goolgasian would net her second of the day to give them the 2-0 lead.

The Raiders (0-9-1) would find the back of the net two minutes later to cut the deficit back to one on a Margaret Smith (Portland, ME) goal. However, that is as close as they would get with Curry putting one more in to clinch the victory. Jenna Desmarais was responsible for the closing goal.

Madelyn Morgan (Riverside, CA) would be tagged with the loss in net but racked up another 40 saves.

Rivier is back on the ice at Conway Arena tomorrow night at 7 to finish a two game weekend with Curry.
