NASHUA — The Rivier University women’s basketball team fell to Great Northeast Athletic Conference opponent Lasell University in a neck and neck battle,72-67.

Neither team ended a quarter with more than a three-point advantage. Lasell, however, did come out on top in three of the four quarters with one tie.

The big story for the Lasers (2-4, 1-0 GNAC) was Meg Carroll, a senior forward who dropped an impressive 28 points along with 15 rebounds. The bulk of her points (14) came in the fourth quarter to ultimately lift her team over Rivier. The Raiders could not stop her down low, and she was able to score at will.

Juju Nealy was also feeling it for Lasell, finishing with 14 points and four assists.

For the Raiders (3-4, 0-1 GNAC), Alexa Dufries (Leicester, Mass.) led the team with 24 points and five rebounds. Right behind her was Manchester’s Lyric Grumblatt with 23 points, five rebounds, and five steals.

Rivier will be back in action next Tuesday when Mount Holyoke travels up to the Muldoon Center for a 7 p.m. non-conference game.
