Martinez hits for 33 as Wildcats roll past Quinnipiac

DURHAM — Senior forward Jayden Martinez (Cibolo, Texas) scored a career-high 33 points to lead the University of New Hampshire men’s basketball team to a 84-69 victory against Quinnipiac on Tuesday afternoon at Lundholm Gymnasium.
Martinez shot 13-for-15 from the floor, including 2-for-3 from the three-point arc along with a season and game-high 14 rebounds.
UNH improves to 2-2 overall on the season with the win, while the Bobcats fall to 3-2.
Sophomore guard Blondeau Tchoukuiegno (Montreal, Quebec) and graduate student Josh Hopkins (Greensboro, N.C.) chipped in with 13 and 11 points, respectively. Tchoukuiegno also added six rebounds and three assists, while Hopkins shot 4-for-8 for the field with four boards.
The ‘Cats outshot Quinnipiac, 52% to 38% for the game, which included 58% shooting in the first half for the Wildcats.
UNH owned a 42-28 lead at the half with 19 points and six boards from Martinez in the first stanza.
Dezi Jones led the way for the Bobcats in the losing effort with 19 points.
The Wildcats return to action on Saturday, November 27 at Holy Cross. Game time is 5 p.m. on ESPN+ from Worcester, Mass.
