O’Driscoll’s goal keeps nationally ranked UNH unbeaten

BROOKLINE, Mass.  – Junior Rory O’Driscoll (Minneapolis, Minn.) scored the game-winning goal in the second half as the No. 12 University of New Hampshire men’s soccer team defeated Northeastern, 1-0, at Parsons Field on Tuesday evening.  

The Wildcats improve to 4-0-0 on the season, while the Huskies fall to 2-1-1.

The Wildcats return to action on Friday, Sept. 10 when they play at Michigan at 7 p.m. on Big Ten Network+.

After the scoreless first half, UNH had outshot Northeastern, 8-6.

O’Driscoll scored the game winner in the 64th minute (63:07) when he blasted a free kick to the upper left corner of the net from 25 yards out.

The goal by O’Driscoll was his first of the season and his fourth career game winner. He has seven goals and three assists for 17 career points.

The Wildcat defense prevented the Huskies from taking any more shots on goal to earn their third shutout of the season.

UNH outshot Northeastern, 18-10, while the Wildcats took seven shots on goal and the Huskies posted one on net.

The ‘Cats attempted six corner kicks, while the Huskies took three.

Koleilat made one save for his third shutout of the season and moved to 4-0-0, while Hegarty recorded six saves for the Huskies.
