Nashua Silver Knights edge Westfield
NASHUA – The Nashua Silver Knights scratched out two early runs and made them stand up for a 2-1 victory over Westfield before 2,082 at Holman Stadium on Friday night.
Westfield took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a single by Hunter Pasqualini and an RBI double from Jaden Brown, but the lead evaporated in the bottom of the inning.
With two outs Brandon Fish reached on an error. Westfield starter Shane Audet then walked Sam McNulty, John Mead and Will MacLean to force in the tying run.
Nate Goranson opened the bottom of the second with a double and eventually scored from third on a fielder’s choice ground ball for the final run of the night.
Silver Knights starter Jack Beauchesne worked five innings, allowing one run on four hits, striking out four. Noah Wachter, Griffin Young and Liam Eliot combined for four scoreless innings to nail down the win.
The Silver Knights travel to Norwich tonight and return to Holman Stadium on Sunday for two games against Westfield, set for 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.
