Silver Knights rained out again, hope to finally play tonight

By Tom King - Staff Writer | Jul 3, 2021

NASHUA — The Nashua Silver Knights will certainly play again during the 2021 Futures Collegiate League season.

But it wasn’t going to be Friday night, and they’re holding out hope it can be Saturday.

The Knights were rained out for the third straight night as Friday night’s scheduled game vs. the Westfield (Mass.) Starfires at Bullens Field was postponed due to the bad weather that is plaguing New England.

Friday’s game was postponed to August 1 at 6 p.m., but since that day Westfield is slated to play the Silver Knights at 3 p.m. at Holman Stadium, it’s likely — though not confirmed — it will be played in Nashua with Westfield being the home team while away from home for that second, 6 p.m. game. Nashua was not slated to visit the Starfires again this season.

The Silver Knights last played Tuesday night at Holman with a walk off, 10-innng win over the first place Pittsfield Suns, and the Suns are slated to return to Holman tonight for a 6 p.m. matchup — weather permitting, of course. Nashua then will head to Pittsfield on Sunday for a 6:35 July 4 holiday game, then visit Vermont Monday and Tuesday before returning home for three streiht next Wednesday through Friday.
