UNH men’s soccer team moves up to No. 12 nationally

DURHAM — The University of New Hampshire men’s soccer team (4-0-1, 3-0-1 America East) has moved up two spots to No. 12 in this week’s United Soccer Coaches Poll.

That ranking ties the highest ranking in program history in this poll. The Wildcats were also No. 12 on Sept. 24, 2017.

The Wildcats will return to action on Friday when they host UMass Lowell at Wildcat Stadium. The game will be broadcast on AmericaEast.TV.

In their most recent game last Friday, graduate student Paul Mayer (Strasbourg, France) scored two goals as the Wildcats posted a 4-0 victory against previously undefeated Hartford at Wildcat Stadium in America East action. Mayer netted his second game-winning goal of the season in the 35th minute and scored his second goal of the game in the 87th minute.

Sophomore Bilal Kamal (London, England) scored his second goal of the year and senior Linus Fallberg (Jonkoping, Sweden) tallied his first of the season to secure the win against Hartford. Redshirt freshman Liam Bennett (Meredith, N.H.), freshman Drew Blackwell (Wilmington, Del.) and freshman Adi Hicks (Derry, N.H.) all had an assist for their first collegiate points.

GOALKEEPER HONORED

Thanks to that shutout, Wildcats graduate student goalkeeper Alejandro Robles (Monterey, Mexico) of has been named the America East Defensive Player of the Week.

It was his second shutout of the season, as he made two saves.Robles has a 4-0-1 record this season as his .419 goals against average is second in America East and his two shutouts are tied for second.
