SOCCER’S MAYER EARNS AWARD

Graduate student Paul Mayer (Strasbourg, France) of the No. 14 University of New Hampshire men’s soccer team has been named the America East Offensive Player of the Week. This is Mayer’s first career America East weekly award.

Mayer scored the game-winning goal in the 2-1 win at Stony Brook on March 19. With the game tied at 1-1, he netted the game winner in the second half as he deflected a clear attempt by the goalkeeper as the ball then went right to the back of the net. This was the first game winner for Mayer as a UNH Wildcat.

Mayer is tied for first on the team this season with two goals and his four points are tied for third. His two goals are also tied for fourth in America East.

LIBERO PAGLIARINI HONORED

Freshman libero Mia Pagliarini (Springboro, Ohio) of the University of New Hampshire volleyball team was named America East Defensive Specialist of the Week, which was announced on Tuesday by the conference office.

Pagliarini, who wins the award for the first time in her Wildcat career, notched 70 digs and 4.67 digs per set in the 3-1 week for UNH in four total matches. She totaled 18 digs in three of the four matches and registered 16 digs in the 3-0 sweep on UMBC on Sunday. Pagliarini also registered a 98.3 serve receive percentage over the weekend in 59 total attempts.
