The University of New Hampshire football team’s pandemic pause continues.

CAA Football has announced that the March 27 game between New Hampshire and Villanova in Villanova, Pa. has been postponed due to “COVID-19 related protocols within the New Hampshire program.”

It’s the second straight postponement for UNH, which saw Saturday’s scheduled game at Wildcat Stadium vs. Delaware postponed as well.

UNH has played one game in this special, abbreviated spring season, created for Division I FCS as the 2020 fall season was cancelled due to COVID.

This spring was supposed to be a six game season. The Wildcats opened up on March 5, losing to UAlbany in Durham. They then had a bye for the weekend of March 12, and were supposed to resume their schedule yesterday before an announcement was made earlier this past week.

The CAA has said in both postponement announcements that a decision on rescheduling the games will be made at a later date, but one would think it would be hard given the schedule to reschedule both games, unless the season were extended an extra week or two.

UNH’s next scheduled game, as of now, is Saturday, Apr. 3 at the University of Rhode Island. The Wildcats are then slated to host Stony Brook on Saturday, April 10 at noon, and the season finale is scheduled for Saturday, April 17 at UMaine at 2 p.m.

The Wildcats (0-1) lost their opener to the Great Danes, 24-20.
