The University of New Hampshire football team’s game set for this Friday vs. the University of Delaware at Wildcats Stadium in Durham has been postponed.
The problem? Why, the pandemic, of course.
The COVID-related issues evidently are on the UNH end. The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) issued a statement Wednesday saying the game was postponed “due to COVID-19 related protocols within the UNH program.”
The game was scheduled for noon Saturday and was set to be televised on NBC Sports Boston. It was to be the second of six UNH football games this spring in a special season created due to the fact the usual fall season was cancelled because of the pandemic. UNH is next scheduled to play at Villanova on Saturday, March 27 at 1 p.m.
Their other games: Saturday, Apr. 3 at URI; Saturday, Apr. 10 vs. Stony Brook, and Saturday, Apr. 17 at Maine.
The Wildcats opened their season with a 24-20 loss at the hands of UAlbany in Durham on Friday, March 5. They had last weekend off.
Neither team has an open date in the remaining part of the schedule. However, the CAA’s statement said “A decision on rescheduling the game will be made at a later date.”
