DURHAM, N.H. – Kelly Fogarty bested her own Maine school record and tied an America East record with 10 made 3-pointers for a game-high 30 points as the University of Maine topped the University of New Hampshire women’s basketball team, 76-56, Sunday afternoon in an America East contest at Lundholm Gym.

Ivy Gogolin (Hopkinton, Mass.) scored eight points, tallied a game-high eight rebounds and equaled a career best with four assists to lead UNH.

With a split of the weekend two-game series, UNH now stands at 2-7 overall and 2-4 in America East action. Maine, which had a 15-game winning streak snapped in Saturday’s loss to the Wildcats, improved to 6-1, 3-1.

Gogolin went 6-for-6 from the free-throw line and 1 of 3 from the field. Amanda Torres (Hudson, N.H.) led the Wildcats with 12 points (4-for-13 FG, 3-for-5 FT), and Héléna Delaruelle (Enghien-leslBains, France) chipped in with 10 points (4-for-10), five rebounds and three assists.

Fogarty went 10-for-17 from 3-point distance while the rest of the Black Bears were only 3 of 13 beyond the arc. Bianca Millan added 14 points (6-for-13), four rebounds, three assists and a blocked shot.

Maine went on a 20-0 run to take a 27-10 lead early in the second quarter and led 41-23 at the half, never looking back.

“We made some adjustments before the game, kind of stuck to the same game plan, taking their two best players out of the game, challenging some other returners for them to step up and they stepped up,” UNH coach Kelsey Hogan said. “They made shots and down the stretch we had too many droughts…

“I just think, too, that kind of shows our youth right there and especially playing back-to-back, but I do think even still today just the fight’s there and there’s still some good takeaways that we’re going to continue to learn and grow on.”

The Wildcats hit the road for two games at UMBC (2-5, 2-3 America East) on Saturday, Jan. 9, and Sunday, Jan. 10, at the UMBC Events Center. Each game is slated to start at 1 p.m. live on ESPN+.
