Nashua Silver Knights capture fifth FCBL title with 5-3 win

By Tom King - Staff Writer | Aug 22, 2020

Telegraph photo by TOM KING The Nashua Silver Knights hoist the FCBL championship trophy after beating Worcester 5-3 to win the best of three title series 2-1 on Saturday night at Holman Stadium.

NASHUA – The Nashua Silver Knights are champions of the Futures Collegiate League for the fifth time in 10 years.

The Knights took a three-run first inning home run by Dylan Jones and parlayed that into a 5-3 win in the deciding Game 3 over the Worcester Bravehearts before a lively crowd at Holman Stadium on Saturday night.

Nashua needed insurance runs, however, getting an RBI single by Ben Rounds in the eighth inning and a sacrifice fly by Finals MVP Kyle Bouchard to secure the win.

But it wasn’t set until Knights reliever Brandon Dufault struck out Tyler Patane with the tying runs on base to end things in the bottom of the ninth after Worcester had scored a run.
