Revive Recovery Resource Center golf tournament, dinner is Aug. 24

By ERIC STANWAY - Special to The Sunday Telegraph | Aug 15, 2020

For the last four years or so, the Revive Recovery Resource Center has been tending to the needs of individuals and families with substance abuse issues. The center is a peer-to-peer organization with a strong emphasis on destigmatizing the conditions that challenge the recovery community, honoring all pathways that aid in self improvement, coping skills, and a holistic way to live and be the healthiest self one can be.

The main fundraiser for the center is a golf tournament and dinner, which celebrates its fourth anniversary this year at the Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua on Aug. 24. The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. on the golf club back patio. There will be a food and beverage cart available, although the traditional banquet has been canceled, for obvious reasons. Mulligans will be sold for $10 each with a limit of four per team. A trophy will be awarded to the lowest-scoring team. Tickets vary in price in accordance to the level of participation. Dinner only tickets are $50 per person; golf only, $150 per person; dinner and golf, $175 per person. Sponsorship packages are also available, starting with Bronze at $800, which includes event advertising and a six person dinner service. Silver, at $1,500, features a golf foursome, 10 person dinner service, with dinner event advertising and a mention at dinner. Gold, for $2,000, features a golf foursome, 10 person dinner and display table, top advertising and an appearance on start. Additionally, there is a cart sponsorship for $2,000, which features a golf foursome, 10 person dinner and display table, and cart advertising. Drink Sponsorship Packages are also available upon request.

“We’re observing all of the CDC recommendations involving social distancing,” said Jessica Parnell, Executive Director of the center. “We’re really excited that so many of our donors and supporters will be showing up, despite the current pandemic. We have four or five teams coming in from the Police Department to show their support, along with other community organizations.”

Revive Recovery is a non-profit, peer recovery support center. Their mission is to open doors and open minds for the recoverees in the community while providing a wide range of services for their mental, physical and spiritual well being.

Their vision is one of acceptance and integrity; one that encompasses the community they serve to help illuminate their chosen path to recovery. They aspire to provide a safe environment and unbreakable support for individuals to begin or continue on their journey of recovery.

Revive Recovery Coaches offer recovery support and help with obtaining community-based services and resources, while providing hope and positive role modeling. Our coaches also work with their recoverees to develop their own individual recovery wellness plans.

Revive Recovery Coaches promote recovery, remove barriers, build recovery capital, connect recoverees with recovery support services; and encourage hope, optimism and healthy living. Recovery coaches often will assist individuals with removing barriers such as assisting with employment, housing, educational needs, connections to mental health resources when desired, connections to meetings through multiple pathways as well as recovery oriented social network events, activities and other wellness related opportunities.

Revive Recovery Coaches also provide crisis response and resources for community members of all ages who may be struggling with substance misuse and are seeking treatment and recovery options.

Recovery Coaching is for people both in recovery from addiction themselves, or for family members, friends and loved ones of those who have been affected by another’s addiction.

Recovery Coaches are not therapists, counselors, clinicians, clergy or 12 step sponsors. They occupy a very unique and distinct lane on the recovery pathway.

Recovery Coaching in the Revive Recovery Community Centers is provided by trained Recovery Coaches, free of charge. All Revive Recovery Coaches have completed a 30 hour Recovery Coach Academy as well as a 16-hour ethics training.

Parnell stressed that this particular event is of considerable importance to the center, allowing them to continue their mission.

“This is our biggest fundraiser of the year,” she said. “We generally raise between $20,000 to $30,000 each year, which represents a large portion of our budget. We just opened a new location in Derry, so it’s important that we have the funds in place to keep that facility open.”

Parnell stressed that the ongoing support of the community has been central to keeping this tournament going.

“We want to thank our 2019 sponsors; Anagnost Companies, Optiline Enterprises, Akavie, The Process Recovery Center, Banyan Treatment Center, Rise Barber Shop, Gatehouse Treatment Centers, Parsons Ventures, Granite Recovery Centers, Autofair, SSANA, Spectrum, Merchants Auto and The City of Nashua Division of Public Health and Community Services,” she said. “We look forward to seeing you all on the green.”
