Weekend Roundup: Hudson improves to 7-0-1 in NEIBL

The Hudson NEIBL varsity squad is having quite a summer so far. The locals raised their record to 7-0-1 with a doubleheader sweep of Merrimack on Sunday.

Here’s a look at the local weekend action:

HUDSON 13-9,

MERRIMACK 1-3

In the first game at Alvirne High School, Hudson’s Alex Bouley tossed a three hitter over six.

Brady Simard had two hits and four RBIs while Jacob Hobart, Josh MacDonald and Boulay each had two hits.

In the second game, Adam Scharn, Evan Beals and Kyle Boulanger each scored three runs. Boulanger also had three hits including a single, triple and homer.

Nick Jacques tossed six innings to get the win.

Hudson hosts Concord on Tuesday at 5:45 p.m. while Merrimack (2-5) hosts Amherst on Thursday at 5:45 p.m. at DWC’s Harvey Woods Field.

AMHERST 4-7,

DURHAM 3-8

The Sabers (3-5 overall, 2-5 league) settled for a split of Saturday’s doubleheader, winning the opener on Troy Brennan’s RBI single in the bottom of the seventh.

Brennan went 2 for 4 with a double while Brandon Dufour and Isaiah Gutierrez also had two hits. Bobby Henline pitched five strong innings.

Brennan also tossed two innings of relief.

In the nightcap, however, Amherst couldn’t hold a 7-4 lead. Sean Brennan pitched six strong for the locals, and Troy Brennan again had a big game going 3-for 3 with a pair of doubles. Other key hits came from Jeff Lugo, Reese Colby and Eric Romano.

Amherst visits Londonderry at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
