North Shore snaps Silver Knights win streak, 6-2

By Tom King - Staff Writer | Jul 11, 2020

The winning streak has ended for the Nashua Silver Knights.

But not for the red-hot North Shore Navigators.

The Navs are now 6-0 atop the Futures Collegiate Baseball League after their 6-2 win Friday over the Knights, who fell to 3-4, at Lynn’s Fraser Field.

North Shore scored in each of the first four innings to take a 6-0 lead, pounding out 12 hits on the night. Former Silver Knight Cody Morissette went 3 for 4 with three RBIs, including a run-scoring triple in the first. Another former Knight, Alex Brickman, singled him home to make it 2-0 and the Navs were on their way to another win.

Nashua did rally a bit in the ninth inning with two runs as Ben Rounds drew a bases loaded walk and Dylan Jones scored on a wild pitch.

Joe Quintal took the loss for Nashua, allowing four runs on seven hits over three innings. Gavin Sullivan got the win for the Navs with four innings of two-hit, shutout ball. North Shore used seven pitchers, with Luke Marshall striking out the only three batters he faced in the ninth to grab the save.

The two teams tangle again today at 6 p.m., this time at Holman Stadium.
