NASHUA – The Nashua Silver Knights are having almost too much fun.

Thursday night, a week after it looked like they couldn’t touch the baseball with any authority, they continued to pound it with 16 hits en route to a 12-1 win over Worcester at Holman Stadium.

“It’s getting really fun,” said Knights center fielder Troy Schreffler, Jr. after going 2 for 4 with two RBIs. “It’s only six games in, but it’s getting there. It was a long time waiting for this to happen. Definitely worth the trip.”

“The kids are having fun, they’re enjoying, they’re laughing,” said Silver Knights manager Kyle Jackson as his team is now 3-3. “I had a couple of conversations with the guys and they said even when they were 0-3 they knew they were just going to keep playing.”

Nashua, which got a 4 for 4, three RBI night from Jared Dupere, jumped on the Bravehearts and starter Sebastian Gruszecki for four runs, mainly on walks but also an RBI single by Schreffler.

Nashua was never threatened. Dupere later on the night added an RBI single and an RBI double. Worcester pitching also uncorked four wild pitches, allowing three runs to score on the night.

Jack Pawloski got the win with 2.2 innings of scoreless relief, as he came out to start the second inning after Nashua starter Geoff Mosseau complained of a tight elbow following the first inning.

Overall the pitching was fine, as Worcester (2-3) managed just five hits, and the Knights committed just one error, with the game ending on a superb 6-4-3 double play started by a super stab by shortstop Luke Beckstein.

“Pitching, defense, hitting, baserunning,” Jackson said. “If you’re going to hold this team to one after they came in here last Sunday and beat us, it’s good.”

“We got thrown a lot of good arms the first few games,” Schreffler said. “We’ve been seeing the same arms, but we’ve been working the count more, seeing the ball more, and I think we’re getting our confidence back after that first win.”

Jackson said there’s no alarm about Mosseau’s elbow, even though he had Tommy John surgery almost two years ago. “The trainer looked at him, his strength is all fine,” he said. “We’re just going to talk to him about his throwing program, maybe lessen it. I think it’s putting too much stress on him.”

Nashua added yet another pitcher, lefty Hunter Owen, who will start Tuesday. He is the 2018-19 Player of the Year in Maine, and is headed to Vanderbilt…

Pitcher Jackson Walker is on the reserve list, as the team wants to work with him a bit before sending him back out to the mound. “We’re going to build his confidence back up,” Jackson said….

Another pitcher, Nick Guarino, is on the disabled list with a groin injury…

Nashua heads to play unbeaten (5-0) North Shore at Fraser Field in Lynn, Mass.today at 6 p.m, then host the Navigators Saturday at 6 p.m. at Holman.
