Nashua, Merrimack post NHCBL wins on Friday

Both Merrimack and Nashua were on the plus side on Friday in the New Hampshire COVID Baseball League.

Here’s a look:

NASHUA 8,

SEACOAST PIRATES SILVER 2

The Defenders bounced back from their opening night loss to even their record at 1-1. Offensive leaders were Max Mello (2 for 2, walk, two runs), Kam Thibault (2 for 4, double, RBI, run), Dan Trezpacz (3 for 3, double, RBI, run) and Kyle Hsu (2 for 3, double, RBI, run, two stolen bases).

Will Brooks, Issac Zhang, Jake Mitchell and Drew Gryniewicz also drove in runs for Nashua. Zach Finkelstein (3. 1 innings, two hits, two runs, four strikeouts), Corey O’Day (2.1 innings of hitless ball) and Varun Lingadal (1.1 scoreless frames) were solid on the mound for Nashua, which take on the New Hampshire Prospects today at 10 a.m.

MERRIMACK 2,

NH PROSPECTS WHITE 0

Keegan Burke and Dylan Callahan combined to blank the Prospects as Merrimack improved to 2-0.

Burke fanned six in 4.2 innings for the win while Callahan tossed 2.1 scoreless innings to get the save.

Meanwhile, Ben Flanders went 1 for 3 with an RBI while David Reith went 2 for 2 for the winners.
