While the Futures Collegiate Baseball League works toward a plan on having a limited season this summer, it definitely has one project set to go:

An FCBL Hall of Fame.

Friday it announced the creation of its own Hall of Fame to recognize administrators, coaches, players, teams and contributors since the league began in 2011. It is hoping to begin its 10th season in early July.

Nominations are currently being accepted, and you can bet that the Nashua Silver Knights will certainly be well represented in the FCBL Hall.

“This is a great time to recognize the people that have made the Futures League what it is today,” FCBL commissioner Joe Paolucci said in a release. “I am very excited to bring this Hall of Fame to life and to be able to celebrate the excellent contributions that have made us the best collegiate baseball league in New England.”

The league plans to have its first induction after this season, with a plan to induct no more than 10 every other year. Nominees will be voted on by a Hall of Fame selection committee chaired by Paolucci, and will need three-quarters of the committee to vote in favor of induction.

Inductees will fall under five possible categories:

Players – Eligible for induction five years after their final FCBL season. They should have won season-long awards, been a significant member of successful teams and/or gone on to a professional baseball career. For the Silver Knights, definitely think Ryan Sullivan.

Coaches (managers and coaches) – Eligible after their active coaching career in the FCBL is completed. They must have managed or coached for a minimum of two seasons in the league, have been a part of successful teams and be known to have greatly enhanced the players he/she coached. Former Nashua Silver Knights manager B.J. Neverett, who guided the Knights to three of their four FCBL titles, will certainly be inducted.

Teams – They can be inducted for “great achievement” during at least one season. The Silver Knights would certainly be part of this category.

Contributors and Administrators – They must have contributed significantly to the greater good of the FCBL, whether it be building or enhancing an FCBL franchise or the league as a whole. You’d likely see former FCBL commissioner Chris Hall and original Nashua Silver Knights owner Drew Weber here.

There is no waiting period for eligibility in the teams or contributors/administrators categories.

To nominate candidates, there is a form available at thefuturesleague.com, and those interested can click on the links under the “Awards” tag.
