MAY 16, 1960 – “It was a successful weekend for Nashua High sports. Buzz Harvey’s baseball team posted an impressive 11-0 divisional win over Keene, Fran Tate’s powerful track team had little trouble turning back Central and West in a tri-meet here, and Tony Marandos’ Purple Jayvee diamond men stopped the Keene Jayvees 10-5.”

Also on this date …

“The Charlotte Ave. School All Stars defeated the Arlington St. Stars 15-14 at Marshall St. The only home run of the game, by Dyer of Charlotte, was nullified when he failed to touch second base. Roger Blais starred at the plate for the winners by driving in six runs with a triple, double and single.”

MAY 17, 1965 – From Fred Dobens’ “Around the Town” column:

“Manager Billy Herman of the Boston Red Sox is sqwaking about Nashua’s Birdie Tebbetts rubbing it in against his team in their recent series at Fenway Park. Herman said that when Tebbetts’ team (the Cleveland Indians) had a big lead he tried to make the Red Sox ‘look foolish.’

“Any observer of the antics of the Boston team these days can draw only one conclusion. The Red Sox are making themselves look foolish.”

MAY 16, 1975 – “The Nashua High Purple Lassies came away with their eighth straight win of the season yesterday, defeating Keene in softball 16-3. Debbie Rodier twirled a five-hitter while striking out five and walking eight in collecting her third win.”

MAY 17, 2019 – “The Cardinals come away with a road win moving them to 14-3. Brett Anderson showed his arm power pitching a complete game, allowing six hits and striking out 12.

Taylor Proulx (RBI, run, stolen base), Billy Gonya (RBI, run) and Matt Thibault (RBI) were the offensive leaders.
