Silver Knights rally to sweep Bravehearts
NASHUA – Mike La Rocca (SNHU) scored on a wild pitch, after a wild final seventh inning unfolded as the Nashua Silver Knights came back from a 6-3 deficit for a 7-6 win Wednesday night to sweep the Worcester Bravehearts on a very hot, very muggy day/night double-header at Holman Stadium that drew an announced crowd of 2,300.
After a convincing 15-2 victory in the opener, Nashua needed every last opportunity to complete the sweep in Game 2 as it clawed back in what the team hopes is is a major turning point in its FCBL season. The Knights (15-15) will try to make it four straight today at Worcester (14-15) at 1 p.m.
Dylan Jones (Franklin Pierce) continued his assault on FCBL pitching by going 2 for 3 in the nightcap with an RBI, raising his average up to .360. La Rocca drove in two runs in addition to scoring the game-winning run.
In the opener, Nashua hammered out 16 hits in the nine inning affair, paced by Jared Dupere (Northeastern), who went 4 for 5, including his fifth homer four runs and four RBIs, Luis Attiles (New England College, 3 for 5 three runs) and Jones (3 for 5, two RBIs, two runs.
