Silver Knights fall short at Brockton, 10-8

By Staff | Jun 13, 2019

The bats came alive for the Nashua Silver Knights on Wednesday, but just a bit too late as a ninth inning rally fell short in a 10-8 morning game loss to the host Brockton Rox at Campanelli Stadium.

The Knights (4-8) had 12 hits, but the problem was they gave up 13, including four in a five-run Brockton fourth inning and four more in a very costly three-run Rox eighth inning that put the Knights in a 10-4 hole.

Souhegan alum Owen Batchelder started a four-run ninth inning rally with a single. Kyle Sandstrom had a big two run single in the inning, going 2 for 6 on the day with three RBIs. Ben Irvine went 3 for 6 with two runs scored while Dylan Jones went 2 for 5.

Starter Evan Christopulos took the loss for the Knights giving up five runs (four earned) on four hits over 3.1 innings.

Nashua, in the middle of a stretch of 12 games in 12 days, is slated to host Pittsfield for the second time in three nights tonight at 7:05 at Holman Stadium.
