Nashua Silver Knights top North Shore Navigators

Building and maintaining a lead for most of the game, the Nashua Silver Knights posted a 5-3 win Monday night over the North Shore Navigators at Fraser Field in Lynn, Mass.

Andrew Gorham led the way for the Silver Knights at the plate going 1 for 3 with a two-run double which ultimately made the difference. Cody Morissette went 2 for 3 with a run scored.

Harrison Engstrom led the Navigators as he went 2 for 4 with an RBI. JP Knight went 1 for 3 with and RBI and a run scored.

Brandon Dufault got the start and the win for the Silver Knights allowing three runs, one of which was earned, on seven hits while striking out seven in his 6-1/3 innings of work.

Manny Ray finished the seventh allowing a hit while striking out one. Joe Grassett pitched a clean eighth and Drew Farkas worked the ninth, allowing a hit while striking out one.

Shayne Audet got the start and the loss for the Navigators going five innings and allowing four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out seven.

Fightin’ Phils 9,

Fisher Cats 3

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Jon Berti hit homers but the New Hampshire Fisher Cats dropped a 9-3 decision in Reading on Monday night.

Reading scored twice in the bottom of the first inning to take an early lead. Roman Quinn doubled and Damek Tomsha reached on a fielder’s choice and error. A sacrifice fly by Darick Hall made it 1-0 and Austin Listi then delivered an RBI single for the Fightin Phils.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. belted a two-run homer off the left-field scoreboard on a 3-0 pitch in the top of the third inning to tie the game at 2-2.

His 12th homer of the season followed a walk to Bo Bichette.

The Fightin’ Phils bounced right back with a pair of homers in the bottom of the third inning to reclaim the lead at 5-2. Adam Haseley singled and Damed Tomscha homered. Austin Listi also added a solo shot.

The first two homers came off New Hampshire starter and losing pitcher Josh DeGraaf (3-5).
