Pine St. Eatery 13, Amherst Auto 3

The game was tied at one through five innings when PSE exploded for 12 runs on 17 hits in the sixth and seventh innings to waltz away with the win.

Big bats for PSE came from pitcher Chick Hamel who was 4 for 4, Mark Lara added a home run, and Gerry Moore and Bruce Landry had three hits each.

AA collected 11 hits, Lenny Rapone, Steve Coco (triple) and Alan Hallee each had two hits.

Dr. Dionne’s Seniors 8, Calvary Lock & Key 7

DDS squeaked out a win by scoring the go ahead run in the bottom of the sixth and then playing solid defense against CLK in the seventh.

Wally Hedlund (3 for3) was perfect for DDS followed by left fielder Dick Gillespie (3 for 4 including a double). Ron Lewis demonstrated some pop by going 2 for 3 with a double and triple. Don Smith, Dwight Woodward and Steve Coco also provided 2 hits each for the winners.

CLK had a nice outing (3 for 3) from Pete Ingeneri and 2 hits each from Bill Schofield and substitute Ron Anderson.

Jok’s Auto Sales 18, M&N Sports 7

With half of the team made up of substitute players, M&N struggled and was not able to stop Jok’s potent offense. Supplying that offense was shortstop/ manager Hap Webster (4 for 4), pitcher Norm Harrison, left fielder Les Johnson and first baseman Dick Brown each had a 3 for 4 day. Jay McNay was a perfect 3 for 3 and showed a great glove in the outfield with some slick catches.

M&N second baseman/ manager George Mosnicka had a hit in his only plate appearance before having to leave the game due to an injury. Mark Lara, substituting on the mound, was also solid at the plate with a 3 for 3 day including a homer. Rod Robuccio also homered in a 3 for 4 effort. Lee Nadeau did a nice job going 3 for 4.

Pine St. Eatery 12, Amherst Auto 11

This game was all offense as both teams combined for 47 hits.

PSE’s Paul Archer and Gene O’Callaghan each went 3 for 3. Bruce Landry, Mitch Milewski, Mark Lara, Earl Rinker, Dave Brody and Chick Hamel had two hits each.

AA’s Steve Coco and Steve Nyblom went a combined 6 for 6. Bob Larose had a triple in his 2 for 3 day.

Calvary Lock & Key 16, Dr. Dionne’s Seniors 9

CLK racked up 26 hits and coasted to the win after leading 13-1 through four innings. Six CLK batters were perfect in the game. Zeke Zarakotas and Dan Birck (double and triple) went 4 for 4. Steve Morgan, Bill Schofield and Pete Ingeneri were 3 for 3, followed by Dick Dean who was2 for 2 with two sac flies.

DDS got solid hitting from Ron Lewis (3 for 4 including a double), Dick Gillespie (double), Barry Palmer, Bill Hodge, Steve Coco (double) and Jerry Ferullo (triple) dropped in two hit apiece.

M&N Sports 14, Jok’s Auto Sales 13

M & N beat first place Jok’s in extra innings. The two teams combined for 48 hits.

M&N had smoking 4 for 5 outings from pitcher Bob Lemieux (two doubles) and Art DiGiovanni. Ted Bogle was 4 for 4 and Paul Nickerson helped the cause by going 3 for 5.

Jok’s got a super day from power-hitting Dick Brown (4 for 4 including a home run and two triples). Al Abele and Hap Webster pitched in by going 3 for 4.

Dr. Dionne’s Seniors 5, Pine St. Eatery 4

PSE scored all four of their runs in the first inning.Pine St. Pitcher Bill Hodge and a good defense then shut the door. Down by a score of 4-2, DDS scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh with Harold Weisman driving in the winning run. He also displayed defensive talent in center field with a great catch off the powerful bat of Mark Lara.

Hot DDS bats came from Charlie Howe (3 for 3 including a double and triple), Dwight Woodward was also 3 for 3 and Mike Malonson went 2 for 3.
