Dec. 17, 1962 – “Nashua High dropped a 47-23 basketball decision to Beverly, Mass., Saturday night, but not until it forced the defending Essex County champs down to the wire in the wrap-up of the Gloucester Festival.
“The loss gave the Purple a split in the four-team round-robin affair. On opening night the locals surprised Gloucester, 36-34.
“Despite the split the trip proved to be a fruitful one for coach Tony Marandos and his current crop. The club showed lots of balance and defensive prowess and the weekend action answered many questions as the teams starts getting ready for the Class L race.”
DEC. 18, 1967 – “The Nashua High Purple Blades hockey team picked up where they left off last season at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Coliseum on Saturday night by skating to a 5-2 victory over Manchester Central High in the third game of a State Hockey League triple-header.
“… In the Nashua-Central skirmish, Wayne Harrison, first-line center and co-captain, sparked the Nashuans to their first win of the 1967-68 season by tallying a hat trick. Wayne scored twice in the second period and added another goal in the finale to reach his three-goal output.”
DEC. 19, 1992 – “Amazing Jaci Stimson put on another awesome display Friday night as Milford High School’s girls basketball team toppled Oyster River from the ranks of the undefeated with a 48-40 decision.
“Stimson, the 6-foot-4 center, scored 38 points and hauled in 31 rebounds as the Spartans improved to 2-1 in Class I while Oyster River fell to 3-1.”
DEC. 20, 2017 – “Max Bonney-Liles had 25 points while Joe Canelas added 14 as the visiting Alvirne Broncos routed Manchester Central, 83-56, giving Marty Edwards his first career win as a head coach in New Hampshire.
” Paul Manzi had 12 points and Cam Jones 10. Meanwhile, Ryan Ruigrok had eight rebounds while Meshack Mugiriri added nine points, seven rebounds and played well defensively. Connor Lambert had seven assists while Jamie Bertrand played well defensively”
DEC. 21, 1972 – “The Southern NH Youth Hockey Association Pee Wee B’s tied Bedford on Tuesday night, 2-2. Chris Streeter opened the scoring in the first period with a pass from Dave Ives.
“After Bedford tied the score, then went ahead in the second period, Streeter scored again to tie it, assisted by Ives.”
DEC. 22, 1977 – “Nashua High goalie Jeff Snow got his first high school shutout last night as the Blades blanked the Trinity Pioneers, 4-0, at Skate 3.
“… Two minutes into the first period Joe Basius, Charlie Hall and Gary Prolman executed a fine passing play with Basius getting the first goal of the game. It proved to be the only goal Nashua needed.”
DEC. 23, 1982 – “The Bishop Guertin wrestlers raised their seasonal record to 2-1 with an impressive 51-8 victory over Pentucket Regional High yesterday afternoon. BG’s winners included Jeff Choate, Dan Belliveau, Mike Schramm, Dave Beaulieu, Steve Gallagher, Jay Frank, Andy Keller, Eric Lagerquist and Brian Griffiths.
“Heavyweight Stan Graveline won by default and Steve Knauf wrestled to a draw.”
