AUGUST 13, 1952 – “Events at the annual Aquatic Field Day at Fields Grove will get underway at 2 this afternoon. Under the direction of swimming instructor Terry Viens all children between the ages 4 and 14 will compete in a program of all types of swimming and diving contests.

“… Kevin Soucy is chairman of the Kiwanis committee. He is assisted by James Sardonis, William Footers, Albert Dionne, Victor Cote and Charles Hood.”

AUGUST 14, 1962 – “Larry West walked home with the winning run in the 10th inning as the Nashua Dodgers nipped Portsmouth, 5-4, in a crucial Northeast League engagement at Holman Stadium last night.

“… Nashua’s win enabled it to vacate the league cellar, a half-game ahead of Portsmouth. … Jim Herrick went the distance for Nashua and performed brilliantly in the clutch. In the ninth and 10th, Portsmouth had runners on third base with no outs, but both times Herrick worked out of trouble.”

AUGUST 15, 1977 – “The Nashua North All Stars won a pair of games this weekend in the Manchester Independent League tournament, beating Litchfield on Saturday, 12-0, and returning Sunday to duplicate that score with a win over Keene West. Nashua South also won its second game of the tournament Saturday, topping Keene-West, 4-1.

“Mike Brown led the way in North’s Saturday victory, tossing a no-hitter against Litchfield and helping his own cause with a three-run homer. Sunday, Mike Stewart and Jim Egan had three hits apiece and Glynn Bingham and Scott Anderson combined to pitch a shutout.

“Nashua South posted its win over Keene West on the three-hit pitching of John St. Hilaire. Steve Drescher brought in one run in the fifth with a bunt and St. Hilaire whacked a two-run homer in the next inning.”

AUGUST 16, 1987 – “The Nashua World Cup 71s’ bid for the AAU Junior Olympic national under-16 soccer tournament championship fell one goal short Saturday. Nashua lost in the finals to Pasco Countryside of Clearwater, Fla., 1-0.

“… Nashua wound up with an overall record of 31-4-2, including regional and national competitions, and four players, more than any other team in the nationals, were chosen for the All-America squad. They were Brian Rose of Nashua, Sean Wisbey of Merrimack, Javier Reyes of of Manchester and Galen Avgerinos of Manchester.”

AUGUST 17, 1967 – “Joe Monahan, three-time winner of the State CYO Gold Tournament, is set to defend his crown today in the semifinal round of the tournament at Derryfield Country Club. Monahan notched a slim 1-up victory over George Dutton of Manchester in first-round play. Monahan birdied the 17th hole to gain the victory.”

AUGUST 18, 1992 – “Val Poulin of Nashua Country Club won a New Hampshire Senior Golfers association tournament with a 73 at Lake Sunapee Country Club recently.

“Ray Breton of Nashua CC was second gross in the 60-64 age group with a 78, 1 stroke behind Norm Raiche of Cocheco Country Club in Dover.

Dick Patti of Nashua CC was third net in the same age group at 69, 2 strokes behind Pal Driscoll of Portsmouth Country Club.”

AUGUST 19, 2017 – “Drew Weber has made this promise for the Nashua Silver Knights 2018 Holman Stadium opener next June:

“ ’This time, I’m going to leave (New York) five hours early.’

“Weber, the Knights’ owner, missed this past June’s ring ceremony celebrating the team’s 2016 Futures Collegiate League championship due to traffic delays getting out of New York city.”
