JAN. 28, 1967 – “Displaying an awesome scoring punch with a stingy defense, the Nashua High Royal Purple roared to its sixth win of the season last night at the Chestnut St. Gym, annihilating the Crimson Tide of Concord High, 73-41, before an estimated gathering of 900 spectators.

“Junior center Mike Leclerc continued his torrid scoring pace to once to once again lead the Purple scoring production, which had 11 men figure in the scoring totals. Leclerc collected 10 of the 34 Nashua field goals and added a lone free throw for a game-high total of 21 points. … Leclerc, as did the rest of the starting five, played for only three periods against the weak-shooting Concord club, letting coach Tony Marandos’ reserves taste a full period of action.”

JAN. 29, 1977 – “Vint Boggis of Milford scored the 1,000th point of his career Thursday night as Hesser College destroyed Worcester Industrial Tech, 107-69.

“Boggis, a 6-foot-2 forward, is averaging 20 points and 13 rebounds a game for the Blue Devils, now 21-4. He had 19 points last night, one of seven Devils in double figures.”

JAN. 30, 1982 – “… (Bishop) Guertin’s outstanding sophomore, Skip Barry, poured in a season-high 42 points to lead BG to a 70-66 win over the stubborn Blue Knights of Manchester West in the Queen City last night.

“… After the game West coach George Noucas only had praise for Barry and his team.

” ‘Skip was awesome,’ he said. ‘We didn’t let him have any gimme’s. My kid (Ron Aubin) was in his face all night. He earned every point he got. We’ve got nothing to be ashamed of.’ ”

JAN. 31, 1992 – “The Hollis High School girls basketball team has won 12 of its 15 Class M games this season but there have been few chances for coach Vicki Parady-Guay to relax a little.

“She got on Thursday night when the Cavaliers jumped out to a 15-4 lead and cruised to a 45-18 decision over Wilton-Lyndeborough.

“Hollis got 19 points and 18 rebounds from freshman Carrie Strong and had a very good night from the line, hitting 13 of 16.”

FEB. 1, 2017 – “Nashua North seemingly needed its back against the wall to play its best basketball of the night. Down 49-38 with 2:09 to play, the Titans used the pressure-filled, frenetic pace to their benefit and completed the comeback when Arianna Motivala drained two free throws with four seconds to play for a wild 52-51 victory over Manchester Memorial in a girls basketball game Tuesday night.”

FEB. 2, 1957 – “A three-pronged attack by Wilton High School, which reached its peak in the third quarter, sent Alvirne High’s hoopsters down to defeat, 52-50, despite a spirited flurry by the Broncos in the closing minutes of the tilt played in Hudson last night.

“Abbott, Galloway and Mills each broke into double figures to pace the Wilton attack. Mills led the way with 15 tallies followed closely by Abbott with 14 and Galloway with an even dozen.”

FEB. 3, 1962 – “The Nashua Junior High Raiders dumped Merrimack 49-43 in a basketball game played at Merrimack yesterday.

“The winners’ attack was led by Paul Hesinger with 22 points, Moe Lavoie with 11 and Jim Aponovich who tallied eight.”
