With a nod to the end of high school sports until the fall, we bring you. …

JUNE 18, 1966: From Telegraph icon Fred Dobens’ “Around the Town” column:

“Nashua High School’s Class of 1941, which holds its 25th anniversary reunion at Garde Rochambeau on Saturday evening, June 25, will boast an athletic tinge. The 41ers have invited the dean of Granite State gridiron mentors, Charles ‘Buzz’ Harvey, to share their silver anniversary bread-breaking and bring to a climax the festivities that were begun for Harvey and his able assistant, Tony Marandos, on the turf of Holman Stadium last Thanksgiving Day.

“Though few sports fans will recall, the Buzzer began work at Nashua High a full semester before Tony arrived with his family to begin the fall of 1941 football season.”

OK, that must be classified as a high school sports nugget.

JUNE 19, 1971: “The Nashua Police Travelers met a top team from Massachusetts last night at Bronze Craft Field. The result was a 24-0 win for the local force, their 13th in a row.

“Setting the pace for a 20-hit attack was Cliff Largy, who came up to the lunch counter six times and each time got a hit.”

“Came up to the lunch counter.” Nice.

JUNE 20, 1991: “Jeff Hill has pitched some great games before, but few as efficiently as the Coffey Post left-hander fired Wednesday night against Manchester Post 79. Not only did Hill no-hit the team considered to be the strongest in District A American Legion baseball, he used just 94 pitches in nine innings, walking two while striking out nine.

“Nashua, 1-0 in District B and 4-0 overall, took a 6-1 victory at Gill Stadium. … Post 79’s run came in the bottom of the seventh on a three-base error and a sacrifice fly.”

JUNE 21, 2001: “Dustin Small allowed only one hit, a leadoff single in the top of the sixth inning as Hudson Blue won its second game of the season, 2-0 over Exeter’s Legion team on Wednesday night in Hudson.

“First baseman Pat Wilson provided the big blow of the game with a towering home run to left center off Exeter pitcher Eric Mather.”

JUNE 22, 2006: “Joe King scattered eight hits and struck out three but Salem scored two runs in the sixth inning en route to a 4-2 win over Milford in Senior Babe Ruth League action on Wednesday.

“Josh Blais and Chris McCarthy had RBI singles for Milford while Kyle Brown had a pair of hits.”

JUNE 23, 2011: “Former Nashua High School football coach Ken Parady and former Telegraph editor Mike Shalhoup are this year’s inductees for the Holman Sports Legends Hall of Fame sponsored by the Nashua Lions Club in cooperation with the city.

“The two sports legends will formally join previous inductees as part of Nashua’s Fourth of July program at historic Holman Stadium. The Sports Legends Hall of Fame was started by the former American Defenders baseball team. When the team left town, the Nashua Lions Club took on the program.”

JUNE 24, 1961: “The Nashua Dodgers pummeled the Rochester City club 13-2 In a Northeast baseball league game at Holman Stadium last night.

“Jim Herrick, making his first league start, fashioned a five-hitter and struck out six.”
